Biography

Zachary Paul Büchner (b. 1992) is a composer based outside of Cross Plains in Wisconsin.  From an early age, Zac displayed interest in music, winning two first places in the Wisconsin School Music Association’s 2006 Student Composition Project in the Middle School Division as well as premiers throughout middle- and high-school.

Zac received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2015, studying trumpet under Dr. David Cooper and organ under Dr. Thomas Taylor Dickey, where the UW-Platteville Symphony Orchestra premiered Adagio (in d-minor) at the 2015 Holiday Gala under the baton of Dr. T. T. Dickey.  During his studies, Zac was especially privileged to have various chamber pieces premiered by Dr. Elaina Burns as well as fellow UW-Platteville classmates Sean Garde (saxophone), Laura Bee (piano), Stephanie Cooper (flute), Cody Ferron (euphonium), and Kevin Dolfin (trumpet).

Zac has completed commissions for UW-Platteville faculty trio Ensemble 135, trumpeter Kevin Dolfin, bassoonist Samantha Johnson, bassoonist Ashley Mutka, tubist Justin Rhodes, and trumpter Sam Cutter.  His current projects include a Sonata for bassoon and piano, Walzer for Piano, and various other small chamber works.  His long-term projects include a Symphony for orchestra.
